Howard Dean for DNC chair
I agree with Kos, and this blogger at Blue Oregon:
Look at the DNC website right now. It's entirely given over to Kerry's message to supporters about conceding the race. Not as a "splash" page you can then skip and get into the meat of the site. Just his concession message. Nothing else. No right-off-the-bat "here's what we do now" communications or actions items. Nothing but concession. The sorts of "leaders" who work this way -- their time in this party has to end, and end now. Give the Democratic National Committee to Dr. Howard Dean.
Some will argue that Dean is too far to the left, but do you think Ed Gillespie and Marc Racicot are moderates? The key for a party chair is someone who can organize the loyalists. It's a lot different than what you look for in a candidate for national office. Unlike McAuliffe, or ANY other party leader I can think of, Dean has shown an understanding of the importance of grassroots organizing. He appreciates the fact that we ARE the party, and WE have the ideas. We're not just underlings devoting our time and money to party bosses.
If we can't have Trippi, we need Howard Dean for DNC chair.
Don't miss this article by Micah Sifry of The Nation:
It may seem like cold comfort for Kerry supporters now, but the truth is that voters don't have to rely on elected or self-appointed leaders to chart the way forward anymore. The era of top-down politics--where campaigns, institutions and journalism were cloistered communities powered by hard-to-amass capital--is over.
