Get Johnny
Nevermind that his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, was just diagnosed with breast cancer and will be undergoing months of radiation and chemotherapy to save her life. Why would something like that stop the RNC from putting out the word to start attacking Edwards in light of recent rumors that he'll be running again in 2008?
November 15, 2004Brace yourself: John Edwards was right about something, says Peter J. Wallison. Edwards was correct in his observation that there are two Americas, but he was wrong in what they are. One America is composed of people of faith, who were roused from their political malaise to vote for President Bush in large numbers. The other America is composed of smug elitists who just know that anyone who is a Christian is intolerant, divisive, and stupid. Even if they have never met one. In fact, bigotry and intolerance primarily reside on the left, writes Wallison.
November 12, 2004John Edwards isn’t interested in domestic peace that should come at the end of our recent, spirited and contentious political presidential campaign. According to him, “The fight has just begun.” He sounded bitter and angry the day after the election, threatening to fight on.
I gained some respect for presidential candidate John Kerry after the election. He acknowledged that the outcome should be decided by the voters, not lawyers. He said he did his best to express “my vision and hopes;” though his views were soundly rejected by the electorate. Yet it was proudly American of Sen. Kerry to say, “We must join in common effort, without remorse or recrimination, without anger or rancor.”
Not so with Edwards. He was angry and rancorous, still trying to divide us with his “two Americas” mantra. This is a man we should not trust in American politics.
