Edwards won two primaries, for the record
As you might have heard last night, John Edwards is the VP. I had a feeling it might be true, when I read this from aerosmith, no not the band, the guy on the usaviation.com bulletin board:

I saw that last night posted on the John Edwards blog, and considering emailing or trackbacking it out to a bunch of people. It seemed very credible, and there was no obvious reason why someone would try to pull a hoax. But I remembered hearing that John Kerry wanted to be the one to break the story himself, and I had second thoughts. Even if I was sucessful (not likely since most of the US was asleep by then) and if it was believed and the story got out, all it would have accomplished was to have spoiled John Kerry's moment. So I went to sleep, feeling relatively sure John Edwards was the VP. And he will be.
Saw John Kerry's speech this morning, and thought it was very gracious:
I have chosen a man who understands and defends the values of America, a man who has shown courage and conviction as a champion for middle class Americans and those struggling to reach the middle class—a man who has shown guts, determination and political skill in his own race for the Presidency--- a man whose life has prepared him for leadership and whose character brings him to exercise it. I am pleased to announce that the next Vice President of the United States will be John Edwards of North Carolina. This campaign for the presidency really began two years ago. Throughout those two years as well as four years before that, I have worked with John Edwards side by side and sometimes head to head.
I’ve seen John Edwards think, argue, advocate, legislate and lead for six years now. I know his skill. I know his passion. I know his strength. I know his conscience. I know his faith. He has honored the lessons of home and family learned in North Carolina, and brings those values to this struggle to shape a better future for America. He is ready for this job.
There’s something else about John Edwards that is important to this campaign and our country at this critical time: I am determined that we reach out across party lines, that we speak the heart of America—hope and optimism. And John Edwards will join me in doing that.
Earth to all the pundits out there, John Edwards won two primaries, not one. He won both North and South Carolina. Dean won DC and Vermont. Clark edged out Edwards in Oklahoma. Kerry won all the rest! The fact that John Edwards did not beat Kerry in more primaries does not mean he is not a good VP choice!
That would imply that he was closer to the nomination for President, not the VP.
But on the down side, Edwards only won one primary, and there is great doubt that the one-term senator could have held onto his seat if he had run for re-election in North Carolina.
Edwards was 15 points up on Burr! And saying that he did not win enough primaries is a VERY silly argument to make saying it means he would not make a good VICE president to the guy you won them all! How many did Gore win?
