Howard who?

I don't usually put a lot of stock in what Dick Morris says, but he brought up an interesting point the other day, on one of those talking head cable news shows.
He sees Kerry emerging as the liberal front runner and either Clark or Edwards emerging as the moderate alternative. The conventional wisdom had been that it would be Dean versus Clark or Gephardt. Honestly, I think the differences between Edwards and Kerry are more in their outlook, approach, and emphasis, as opposed to true policy rifts. I think Kerry is simply more culturally elite and out of tune with average Americans. Our dependence on foreign oil is generally not a good thing, agreed, but if that is the most important issue you can think of to emphasize, you are missing the big picture here. As much as a I cringe when I hear Edwards talk about "Two Governments" which is a problematic phrase, he has exactly the right idea. He is the true candidate of average Americans in this race, fighting against the special interests in search of opportunity for all. Fighting against the class structure which still tells children what they can and can not do based on where they live and how rich they are. We will lose if we nominate Kerry because he simply does not understand. He has never been affected by class conflict, so he doesn't see it. As a result we will be running one class unconscious candidate against another, named Bush.
