These are not my high beams

Have you ever noticed that since they made headlights 30% brighter for new cars lately, there are an increasing number of people who are convinced you have your high beams on and are disrespecting them by not turning them down? Maybe I should get a license plate: LOWBEAMS

Occassionally, after you pass someone, you see them turn their high beams on in your rear view and determinedly tail you for thirty seconds or so, then turn their own high beams off and back slowly away. Or if they are driving the other direction, they might just flash their own headlights to say: "Hey, watch it, pal!"

I wonder if they keep statistics to compare the number of lives saved by the new brighter lights to the number of deaths caused by high beam road rage. I'm being sarcastic of course, but you know it's happened to some poor driver. A more prudent statistic to check is probably death caused by temporary driver blindness due to excessive glare.
