I'm not going to name him, since I'm not trying to single him out, but I received the following comment on one of my posts and thought it was too good not to share.
Mike, I can confidently state that idiots such as yourself will never have any influence with thinking Americans. Of course, that excludes most of the liberals in this country so perhaps you can scrape up a few followers to buy into your crap.Try getting a job....good for the soul.
First of all, if I'm pissing him off, I must be doing something right. Second of all, I have a job, and a decent salary at that. As for whether or not liberals or conservatives are more thoughtful, consider the following definitions:
reactionary - adj. Characterized by reaction, especially opposition to progress or liberalism; extremely conservative.
Notice that it does not say, "Characterized by thought." Then compare that definition - equating reactionaries and conservatives - to the definition of liberal.
liberal - adj. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
Doesn't this make his claim that "most of the liberals in this country" are not "thinking Americans" somewhat absurd? Does he own a dictionary?

(The brainstem processes automatic or autonomic responses, to do things like make sure your heart keeps beating and pull your hand away from a burning hot stove as fast as possible. The signals never reach the brain, so no thought it required. If you are a reactionary conservative, who simply reacts to issues instead of thinking them through, you are by definition the political equivalent of a brainstem. Congratulations!)
