Bush praises Santorum as 'Inclusive Man'

From Reuters news service a few minutes ago:

The White House on Friday came to the defense of embattled Republican Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, praising his job performance and pronouncing him "an inclusive man" despite comments he made equating homosexuality to bigamy, polygamy, incest and adultery.

Reuters leaves out beastiality and pedophilia, but then so do the rest of the mainstream press, completely ignoring that part of Santorum's interview. Have they read the full text of the interview? Are they simply parroting each other? Regardless, here are some more awe-inspiring excerpts from Reuters:

"It's up to individual senators, of course, to make decisions about their leadership post," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters.

"But the president believes that the senator is an inclusive man. ... The president has confidence in Senator Santorum and thinks he's doing a good job as senator -- including in his leadership post," he added.

...Senate Republican Leader Bill Frist called him "a consistent voice for inclusion."

Did these people learn anything from the Trent Lott scandal? It is starting to look more and more to me like the person making the best case against Bush's re-election, is HIMSELF! I guess he took down Saddam and he thinks he is unstoppable. Well, if he thinks American voters don't give a damn about this stuff, as long as we have our plastic sheeting and our duct tape, he's an idiot. The reason he won is that people couldn't bring themselves to vote for Gore. I sincerely hope the Democrats nominate an electable candidate this time. Then Bush might discover there is more to Presidential politics than September Eleventh. I guess now we know what Bush means when he talks about the GOP as the 'party of inclusion'. Rick 'man on dog' Santorum is a shining example.
