On Monday, April 21 the School of Communication will host the American Forum "Embedded Journalists: Is TRUTH the First Casualty of War?" in Ward 1 at 8:00 p.m.The forum will investigate whether "the type of information we got during the war is the type of information the public needs… whether the American press and European press look at the war differently" and the overall role of embedded journalists, according to forum moderator Professor Leonard Steinhorn.
"People have talked a great deal about whether the press should be independent or patriotic, so we have to sort through what the press does at a time of international conflict," said Steinhorn.
Panelists include White House correspondent Tamala Edwards, Washington Post ombudsman Michael Getler, Joint Chiefs of Staff Department of Defense public affairs advisor Capt. T. McCreary, and BBC Washington bureau chief Martin Turner.
